As California faces increasing strains on our finite energy and water supplies, the “farm of the future” will need to maximize its resources in an integrated manner to generate energy, clean water, grow animal feed, and produce valuable co-products.
Fiscalini Cheese Company & Dairy
With generous funding from the California Energy Commission, we are working with the family owned and operated Fiscalini Dairy to construct an algae-based waste treatment plant that uses biogas from their anaerobic digesters to produce fuel-quality biomethane for vehicle use, generate high-protein algae feed for livestock, and remediate water for improved crop irrigation.
We are installing a membrane-based biogas refinement system, which purifies the biogas to vehicle quality biomethane. We are then are using an algae raceway pond system to utilize the carbon dioxide from the biogas stream, boosting the production of algae biomass and preventing the emission of harmful greenhouse gasses. This system will be fully operational in Spring of 2019, and we are happy to provide tours of the facility. For more information on our partnership with the Fiscalini Dairy, please contact us.
